![]() It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.įor printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. ![]() ![]() The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.įor PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. So at 80Kw consumption, I aimed for 3 large solars and 4 large collectors. These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Some time into the challenge, I thought I would not make it, but discovered that I was only 40-45 days in (think the day/night cycles are longer than on other planets.) and the colony was starting to be pretty healthy.Īs a rule of thumb, I had 3 times or more of the power-generation that was needed, and double storage. When the colony was well established, it went fairly well, but I was a bit late to get robotics going. I was close to failing while waiting for the resources for my second biodome, and had to build a sick bay in between.Īt the start I had to toggle stuff on/off, and built 4 metal processors that I later recycled to speed things up and to switch to plastic. Then it was time for a second power collector and a second, larger biodome. First I asked for 100% biologists, then 100% workers before shutting down landing pad for a little while. Then I built a small biodome with tomatoes, lettuce, beans and rice and a processing plant. Started with largest solar, power collector, L water, small oxygen + airlock, small canteen, mine and landing pad built a dorm without connection that I teared down after placing a blueprint for small cabin. I feel that trying to reach 300 colonists in 70 days doesn't allow for any accidents, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get enough processors built in time for a laser.Īny ideas or suggestions? More than happy to totally change my approach. This all goes fine until the inevitable bomb from the sky takes out 5 or 6 of my colonists. Ģnd Largest Processing Plant + components Once I have 3 medics, 4 engineers, 6 biologists and 10 workers (or thereabouts). Not sure if this is the best or most easy-to-follow way to describe it but typically I go: I generally hit a wall then because the arrangement of worker trades is almost "too perfect" - invariably a meteor smashes in my dorm and takes out five biologists and ruins the beautiful balance. ![]() I have no problem getting up and running and reaching self-sufficiency along with being able to build medical supplies and spares. Having a hard time with this one and it's my last achievement to get.
